That’s right chikadoo’s. She is’a perch’d and read-eYe to come on down the pike. Soon as me and my webmaster get this new shopping cart and server space set up proper she’ll be comin at’cha! And sure we thought this wonderful compilation of some Florida’s finest underground electronic, ambient, and experimental artist would be out a bit sooner but hey..
better late than never.
Upon hearing this 15 song/12 artist collection of specialized music, which was curated by yours truly, Senor Gar BaiLey. We here at H. Sloth Records firmly believe that you’ll find it was well worth the wait. We couldn’t have hoped for better start to this compilation series.
I’d like to say we’ll try and release one of these annually or even bi-annually, but that’s gonna depend on a multitude of variables in the coming years. However, please do not fret as this definitely will not be the last Hairy Sloth Compilation that is produced.
Big ups and uber duper appreciation for all the wonderful artists who donated and contributed music to this treasure trove of DIY goodness. They make it what it is. I tell ya, as good as this compilation is.. it’s really just the tip of the iceberg baby. Look for full Lengths albums and EPs by many of these same artists over the next year. -(Brand new and archival.)
Below are the front and back covers with the artists and track listings included to help wet your whistle till this thing is up and available later this week…
Oh yeah.. it’s on now!

R.Garcia – “I Used to Write on Walls & Other New York City Stories” ep [SLOTH004]
“R.Garcia is quite the prodigious and versatile musician. Like a shark who must keep swimming to keep on living. Randy Garcia seems to have a similar relationship with writing, playing, & recording music. After releasing countless classic IDM solo albums over the past 10 years er so, and more recently a couple of solid post rock records with his band “The Nerd Parade“. R.Garcia now offers Hairy Sloth Records this wonderful 10 song EP to share with the w3rld like only we can. This a cannon blast of an EP which appears to be amalgamation of many of Mr. Garcia’s collective styles, w3rks, and experiences. An album like this may get recorded in a relatively short time per say, but it is more so the product of years of dedication and the exploration of many creative auditory aRt foRmz. Never one satisfied to languish in any one stylistic comfort zone for too long, R.Garcia has proven to be one of the more chameleonic contemporary sound-smiths working in any American rock or electronic scene today. Wether rocking a guitar, arpeggiating a synth, or tantalizing us with tracking software.. the result is usually the same. -Powerful yet delicate & inventive music filled with contagiously positive energy, and some of the catchiest melodies this side of the North Pole.
“I Used to Write on Walls & Other New York City Stories” was written by Randy for an off-broadway play of a similar title and while he was spending some time in the Big Apple. The energy of the “hive” buzzing and pinging shines through these songs like glowing embers. Especially the melodies, which are as poignant, pregnant, and perfect as ever here. The blend of guitar, software, live instrumentation, and homegrown ingenuity forms a cohesive sound that is as pleasing to the heART as it is to the ear.
We’re pleased as punch that an artist like R.Garcia is out there making records, and even more so that he’s decided to release one with us. Hopefully it won’t be the last, and maybe next time even a full length joint. Though he’s been diversifying he talents a bit more lately, it doesn’t appear that Randy will be retiring from song-smithing’ any time soon. HSR are and will remain to be huge fans. Always looking forward to hearing what Mr. “R” Garcia will do next.”
mad love & respeKt – gaR Bailey aka alGARhythm / June 8th, 2009

Description: A non-stop 3 hour A_Scissors & alGARhythm musical performance & accompaniment for visual artist Doug Rhodhammel’s new art opening entitled: “Larva“. Doug will also be building a rather large “something” for his installation portion of the evening, and he’s been kind enough to invite Brian and Gar out to supply all the auditory inputs, impulses, and impetuses for the occasion. So with these 3 artists of multiple mediums working in tandem for the greater good.. *Expect amazing things to happen. For this is definitely a one-of-a-kind event exploring both auditory AND Visual arts simultaneously, in conjunction, and with enlightened functions.
This is also the first time that A_Scissors & alGARhythm will be performing with each other, and not as separate entities. (*And the first time can only happen once.) They will be exploring everything from pure ambiance and sound collage, to full-on bangin’ live electronic music. This performance might well be the harbinger that pushes their new “Death To False Love” project closer to the surface and forefront.
A_Scissors & alGARhythm are surely looking forward w3rking with such a talented, productive, and visionary artist as Mr. Rhodhammel. They’re also super-excited about the extended horizon time format. With 3 solid hours to explore, be ready to go on a full-feature and full-figured auditory journey.

Mr. Whitefolk – “Guns & Gods” [SLOTH003]
Mr. Whitefolk’s “Gods and Guns” ep is a subversive electronic journey through many sections of modern society and back again. This is a socially infused, sexually conscious, & politically charged IDM record of the finest order. Many of the songs on this album seem to take a sort of ambiguous approach towards dissecting and reassembling popular culture’s stereotypes, idiosyncrasies, & taboo’s. Spoken and unspoken.
Nigel John of Orlando, FL ; aka Dirty Politick aka NIgel ManPerson, is becoming quite the prodigious software artist, producer, & live performer. Hairy Sloth records has the feeling that this rather large EP is just the tip of the iceberg on where & how far this artist may travel and transcend. We’re proud as clams to bring you this deep, dark, and beautiful collection of contemporary electronic recordings.

alGARhythm – “Additional Oranges” ep [SLOTH002]
This EP is a 40 odd minute collection of alGARhythmIsmS. These six songs were originally recorded in 2005 and 2006. Essentially in the same time frame as many of the joints which ended up going on alGARhythm’s 2nd album, “ReInventing The Orange”. This lil collection of songs lay dormant and unheard for nearly 2 and a 1/2 years, until September of 2008.
Fortunately enough, you can now download this newly released EP for FREE, or for whatever donation that you see fit. The available tracks are high quality, 320kbps bit rate MP3s. Which might not have seen the light of day, but for the wonderfulness of the freshly minted, Hairy Sloth Records.
The music on this EP should help bridge the gap between Gar’s 2006 album, “Reinventing The Orange”, and his much anticipated 3rd solo album, to be released in 2009.
*Click on the album cover above, to go and download the 2nd release in Hairy Sloth’s growing arsenal of underground talent. >Boo-Yah-Shaw-Kah!
