“Gift of the Magi” is a tale of doomed love told with marionettes, set to live music by A_Scissors. It will be performed in its 25-minute incarnation at the Audubon Park Community Market, held in the parking lot of Stardust Video & Coffee, on February 7th, 2011 between 9PM – 10PM. This performance is free to the public thanks to the generous sponsorship of ArtsFest, a project of United Arts of Central Florida.”
As described by Thuderhag, “In the Thunderland Forest, gilded bushes grow from the ashes of the SunBirds who lay their eggs in acorn shells hung from their branches. A SunBird lives for one day, then burns like a Phoenix that does not rise again.”
On occasion, certain members of the Hairy Sloth Family do get together and collaborate. As life, art, existence aka survival, and most of all individual styles don’t often allow for successful collaborations. When they do happen and are successful at that in one way or another, it is usually synergistic-ally sick and super inspiring. This was the occasion back in 2008 or ..9, hard to remember, when I lugged a Korg drum machine/synth and KP3 over to my boy Mcnabb’s studio to see what we could do together, if anything at all. -Being that he’s a master Software Artist n’ programmer n’ a seasoned Vinyl/Digital DJ and I’m more of a Hardware Nutter and all around kind of eccentric maximalist. What we found out w3rked best in this instance of musical meshing.. was for Mr. Mcnabb to record some of my “affected” drum loops and even more effectively, my arpeggiated melodies run thru my KP3 and into his computer. He then took it all and sliced n’ diced it up like an auditory master chef with Ableton Live and dropped my reconfigured melodies into & on to one bangin-arse beat.
So the track attached below is for the most part a Michael Mcnabb creation n’ beat, infused with alGARhythmic melodies n effects. Too bad it took so long to get it all mixed down and mastered for you all to hear, but we all lead bizzy lives and schedules and hey.. better late than never. Hopefully later in 2011, Mcnabb and I will be able to make some time and energy to collaborate again. Maybe even put a whole EP together? Especially now that we’re both a couple years more experienced and advanced in our on spectrum’s of musical creation. In the meantime enjoy the audio amalgamation of two highly devoted electronic soundsmith’s coming together digitally for the greater good.. and leavin’ you with our:
